Paul joined Hershner Hunter in 1981 and has been a partner since 1986. Throughout most of his career, Paul’s practice has focused on real estate, land use, and business transactions. Paul assists individuals and businesses in a wide variety of transactions including real property sales and acquisitions, business sales and acquisitions, and financing. Paul also advises property owners, developers and purchasers and sellers of real estate regarding all types of real estate development and land use issues including comprehensive plan amendments, zone changes, urban growth boundary amendments, annexations, property divisions, condominiums, and development agreements with local governments. He also assists energy facility developers with the land use aspects of facility siting.
Paul is a member of the Real Estate and Land Use, Appellate Practice, and Environmental and Natural Resources sections of the Oregon State Bar. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America.
Paul was born and raised in Colorado where he grew up enjoying hiking and skiing in the magnificent mountains of that state. He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1977 with a double major in psychology and philosophy. After graduation, Paul moved to Oregon to attend the University of Oregon Law School, and has stayed ever since.
Paul and his wife, Doreen, have one daughter, Doreanna. They love to travel, particularly to Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Paul also loves music. He plays a variety of wind, stringed and keyboard instruments and served on the Board of Directors of the Eugene Symphony Association for 18 years. Paul also enjoys hiking, bicycling and reading books and articles on various scientific topics.
