Katherine is of counsel in Hershner Hunter’s business transactions group.  She joined the firm in 2017.

Katherine regularly works with businesses engaged in raising funds from investors, from seed financing for early-stage companies to venture capital investments as companies mature.  She works with early-stage businesses generally on entity formation, contracts among business founders, and corporate governance issues.  She also represents businesses in a wide range of transactions, including the grant of equity to employees and contractors, structuring relationships with suppliers, customers, and other strategic partners, purchases and sales of businesses, nondisclosure agreements, license agreements, and other commercial contracts.

Before joining the firm, Katherine practiced both at large firms in Indianapolis and Portland, where she worked primarily with public companies, and at a boutique law firm in Eugene focused on representing startup and emerging businesses.  Katherine has experience working with companies in a variety of industries, including software and video games, biotechnology, organic foods, apparel, educational media, real estate investment, wireless communications, and a number of high tech industries.

Katherine also teaches securities regulation and a clinical business program at the University of Oregon School of Law.  She regularly makes presentations on both startup business issues and securities law compliance for fundraising rounds.

Katherine grew up and began practicing law in Indianapolis, but Oregon has been her home for more than 20 years.  Outside of work, Katherine is active in her church and enjoys walking, gardening, reading, and spending time with her daughter.
