After graduating from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1993, Amanda spent several years working for a locally-owned management services organization, which provided staffing, management, and financial functions for several local physician practices. While there, Amanda focused on the areas of human resources and contracting. In 1997, she joined a local law firm and focused her law practice on civil litigation in both state and federal court. When Amanda joined Hershner Hunter in 2002, she continued her litigation practice, with an emphasis on construction defect and commercial litigation matters. In 2005, Amanda left private practice and went to work in the Human Resources Department for one of Oregon’s largest employers. While there, Amanda participated in the negotiation and interpretation of union contracts, employee discipline and termination matters, the drafting of and implementation of employment and other policies, and the development of management trainings on employment and other matters. She also was primarily responsible for all workplace disputes, including those filed with the Bureau of Labor and Industries.

Amanda returned to Hershner Hunter in 2007 and is a partner in the Employment Law Section. She provides a wide range of employment law services to business owners and managers.  She also trains and coaches employers and managers on a variety of human resource topics, and participates in the negotiation, interpretation and enforcement of labor union contracts. Amanda’s years of practical experience working in Human Resources, coupled with her years as a litigator provide her with a unique understanding of the issues facing today’s employers, both big and small.

When not at work, Amanda spends quite a bit of time volunteering for both community and legal organizations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Womenspace and Downtown Eugene Management, Inc., which is responsible for putting on the Eugene Celebration. She is also a member of the Lane County Human Resources Association and the Society for Human Resource Management. She is a regular volunteer at Food for Lane County, spent several years volunteering as a reader for the Start Making A Reader Today (SMART) Program, and is a past member of the Junior League of Eugene. Amanda also remains active with the Lane County Bar Association and the Oregon State Bar. She is a past director for the Lane County Bar Association and is currently serving as the Chair for the Employment Law Section. She has also served as a director for the Oregon State Bar Professional Liability Fund and is a past Chair for the Oregon State Bar New Lawyers Division. Amanda also regularly volunteers at the University of Oregon School of Law as a judge for various competitions and as a guest speaker.
