Randy is the chairman of Hershner Hunter's litigation department. A native of Eugene, Randy joined Hershner Hunter shortly after graduating from the University of Oregon Law School in 1980 and has been a partner since 1983. He has been an “AV”-rated attorney since the 1980s. He is an active member of the Oregon,Washington, and Alaska bars and regularly handles matters in those states. He has also served as lead counsel in litigation in Arizona,California,Ohio, Oklahoma, and Wyoming. Randy is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Oregon,Washington, and Alaska, as well as the United States Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and Tenth Circuits and the United States Court of Federal Claims.
Randy is active in the construction industry and is a frequent speaker at legal and construction industry educational programs. He is involved in the community and has served on governmental advisory commissions and committees and has worked with several nonprofit organizations.
During high school and college, Randy was an outdoor recreation leader teaching rock climbing, mountaineering, and other outdoor activities and was an active member of Eugene Mountain Rescue, Inc. Prior to and during law school, Randy worked as a professional firefighter and emergency medical technician for the City of Eugene Fire Department. He was serving as lieutenant in charge of a truck company when he joined Hershner Hunter, LLP.
He and his wife, Martha, are the parents of two daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah. Randy is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys fishing, backpacking, boating, and running.
