Melissa grew up in the small southwest Washington town of Kelso and attended Washington State University where she was named the Outstanding Graduating Senior in the College of Liberal Arts . Melissa then moved to Eugene to attend law school. After law school, she obtained a graduate law degree in taxation in Seattle , and then joined Hershner Hunter. In recognition of her work at the University of Washington , Melissa received the CALI Excellence For the Future Award for Taxation of Trusts and Estates and Taxation of S Corporations. She is a member of the Eugene- Springfield Tax Association and the Eugene Estate Planning Council. Melissa is putting her tax education to use, helping clients with estate planning, employee benefits, and business planning issues.
