Art joined the firm in 1978 and has been a partner since 1980. Throughout his practice, Art has focused on business-related legal matters. For the last fifteen years, he has practiced in the areas of estate and business planning, primarily for family-owned businesses. Art works with businesses and individuals to accomplish wealth transition, business planning, and estate planning objectives.
Art frequently speaks to professional groups on estate planning issues. He is a member and past president of the Eugene-Springfield Tax Association and a member of the Eugene Estate Planning Council.
Active in the management of Hershner Hunter, Art has been on the firm’s administrative committee for over 20 years and was managing partner of the firm from 1989 to 1996.
A native of Eugene, Art has three grown children. Although he has traveled extensively in Europe, he now spends his free time hiking, climbing, and backpacking. Art is particularly noted for his skill in igloo building during winter outings in the Oregon Cascades.
